Starbucks Brewed Coffee Menu 2026: Prices, Calories & Caffeine

Starbucks brewed coffee is the cheapest and simplest thing on the Starbucks menu. But most people don’t know that Blonde Roast coffee actually has more caffeine than Dark Roast.

We cover all roasts with their prices, caffeine by size, the Caffè Misto, Coffee Travelers, and everything worth knowing before you decide to order.

Below are the Starbucks Brewed Coffee Menu categories. Choose your drink based on roast, strength, or caffeine need. If you prefer something cold, the Starbucks Iced Coffee Menu is worth a look, too.

Starbucks brewed coffee is drip-brewed, not espresso-based. It’s made by passing hot water through ground coffee beans. It’s a completely different process from an espresso machine. The result is a lighter-bodied drink with a different flavor. In most cases, it has more caffeine per cup than an espresso-based drink.

Blonde Roast has more caffeine than Dark Roast. Lighter roasting preserves more of the caffeine that’s naturally present in the green coffee bean.

The longer and hotter the roast, the more caffeine is degraded. A Grande Blonde Roast has roughly 360 mg of caffeine, and a Grande Pike Place has ~310 mg.

Both are well above what you’d get from the concentrated but smaller-volume drinks on the Starbucks Espresso Menu, where a single shot runs just 75 mg.

A Grande Dark Roast has ~260 mg. If you’re ordering for maximum caffeine, lighter is stronger.

It is Starbucks’ lightest roast, best for people who want high caffeine without the heavy roasted taste of dark coffee. The lighter flavor also makes it the easiest to drink without bitterness.

If you want high caffeine with zero coffee taste at all, the Refreshers Menu is worth a look, too.

You can customize your coffee as you choose. Just request the barista about what you need to adjust in your drink.

Adding milk or cream

Brewed coffee comes black by default. You can add any milk at no extra charge at the condiment bar. Adding a splash at the condiment bar costs nothing. Asking the barista to add steamed milk converts it into a Caffè Misto.

Adding syrup

Classic syrup (sugar + water) adds ~20 calories per pump. A Grande typically takes 3-4 pumps if you want noticeable sweetness. Sugar-free vanilla syrup is available at no extra charge and adds zero calories to your drink.

Ordering iced

Any brewed coffee can be ordered iced. Ask for “iced Pike Place” or “iced Blonde Roast”. It’s brewed coffee poured over ice, different from Iced Coffee and different from Cold Brew.

The flavor of iced brewed coffee is lighter and slightly diluted compared to cold brew.

Three drinks that look similar but are completely different products:

DrinkBrew MethodCaffeine (Grande)CaloriesPrice (Grande)
Brewed Coffee (iced)Hot-brewed, poured over ice~165–310 mg~5 cal~$3.65

Cold BrewCold-steeped 20 hrs, undiluted~205 mg~5 cal~$5.45
Nitro Cold BrewCold brew + nitrogen infusion~280 mg~5 cal~$5.95

Brewed coffee ordered iced is the cheapest cold coffee option. Cold Brew has a smoother, less acidic flavor because cold water extracts fewer acidic compounds from your drink. Nitro Cold Brew delivers the most caffeine of any standard Starbucks drink at ~280 mg per Grande.

The Starbucks brewed coffee menu is the most affordable and highest-caffeine section of the entire Starbucks lineup. And most people misunderstood. The biggest misconception is that dark roast is not the strongest option.

Blonde Roast delivers the most caffeine at ~360 mg per Grande, while Dark Roast sits at ~260 mg. If caffeine is your goal, order lighter.

For everyday value, the Short Pike Place at ~$3.35 or the Grande Caffè Misto at ~$4.75 gives you the best price-to-quality ratio on the menu.

For groups, the Coffee Traveler at ~$21.78 breaks down to ~$1.82 per cup. Nothing else on the Starbucks menu gets close to that per-cup cost.
